Clareville Grove

Clareville Grove runs north from Old Brompton Road and (at its northern end) west into Gloucester Road. The street is lined on both sides with mature trees.

The southern section of the street is one of the most attractive streets in the area. There is a large 1930’s mansion block which used to have a squash court in the basement.

Most of the houses are three-storeys (plus basement). A few have been painted in bright colours. There are two particularly attractive houses set well back from the road on the east side with a large wall at the front hiding spacious front gardens.

The north western end is a short terrace of 1950’s style three-storey houses. On the northern leg of the street there is the Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art as well as the Chanticleer Theatre and a pair of attractive contemporary houses painted in white, three-storeys high with impressive 20 ft front windows running from basement to first floor level.

At the end of the street there is the popular neighbourhood pub, the Hereford Arms.
