Grenville Gardens

Grenville Gardens was built on land belonging to the Alexander Estate.  The estate entered into an agreement with John Wilkins to develop this area. He was already building nearby.

John Wilkins constructed Nos. 10-16 between Cromwell Road and Southwell Garden in 1874-5.  Generally the layout of roads and specifications of houses was imposed by George Pownall, Alexander’s estate surveyor.
