Stanhope Gardens has three sections. The south section runs between Gloucester Road and Queensgate. The south side of this leg consists of a terrace of wide stuccoed houses of five or six-storeys (plus basement). The terrace faces the central communal garden – Stanhope Gardens. The buildings all have portico entrances typical of the Queen's Gate area.
There is an eastern terrace in Stanhope Gardens consisting of a uniform terrace of four-storey houses (plus basement) and these also face the central communal garden which is one of the largest communal gardens in South Kensington.
On the western side of the communal gardens is a further leg of Stanhope Gardens consisting of terraces of six-storey white stucco houses (plus basement).
